Dr. Nicole Basa
Nicole Basa, MD, is an experienced, fellowship trained, board-certified surgeons with an extensive record of creating outstanding results for her patients.
Dr. Basa is a fellowship trained minimally invasive surgeon with an extensive experience of over 4000 bariatric and general surgeries. She is highly proficient in robotic bariatric surgery and had completed the first fully robotic roux en y gastric bypass in Central Texas in 2010. Her vast experience has led her to become a national trainer for robotic bariatric surgery in 2022.
Experience + Education
Dr. Basa completed her surgical training at USC for general surgery and UCLA for her fellowship in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery. She completed medical school at Rush Medical College in Chicago. She has a special interest in appetite and has authored several papers at UCLA Cure on bariatric surgery and ghrelin (a hormone that controls appetite. She has also completed genetics research at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland while in medical school.
Dr. Basa has a passion for teaching and has earned awards for outstanding instruction from her students at both USC and UCLA.

One issue that she had seen repeatedly in her post-surgical weight loss patients was loose skin. This caused Dr. Basa to expand her surgical training to aesthetics. She was trained in liposuction under the godfather of tumescent in-office liposuction, Dr. Jeffrey Klein, Bodytite from “Doc Vegas,“ Dr. Christopher Khorsdandi, and facial anatomy from Craniofacial Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Christopher Surek. She has also learned the CLASS technique of abdominoplasty by plastic surgeon Dr. Campanile. She also has been instructed on facial fillers by Dr. Tom Van Eijk, Dr. David Sadaat and other highly skilled aesthetic injectors.
