B+A’s Pre-Care tips before a microneedling treatment in Austin includes:
- Discontinue use of Tretinoin-type products or Hydroquinone at least 7 days prior to treatment.
- If you have a history of cold sores, begin prophylactic treatment with Valtrex or similar no later than 7 days prior to treatment. (Only if the face is being treated).
- Arrive at your appointment with clean skin.
We apply a topical anesthetic prior to Morpheus8 to minimize pain. Our team will help ensure you’re as comfortable as possible throughout the procedure!
The treatment is not painful to experience. Your skin is numbed with a topical cream before your procedure. The areas to be treated are then “stamped” with the device, with the tiny needles delivering RF energy into your skin structure. You will feel pressure, but the numbing cream makes it tolerable. If you are very sensitive, taking an OTC painkiller before your treatment may be advised.
After a Morpheus8 microneedling treatment in Austin, your skin will appear reddened for several days. You must avoid sun exposure, and no exercise or makeup for 48 hours, as your skin heals. You will need to plan for three to five days for your skin to recover after the treatment, but the wait is well worth it. During the next weeks, your skin will continue to improve in thickness, smoothness, and quality, with lines and creases fading and your skin smoothing and firming as it regenerates.
Day 1 through 3
A sunburn-like effect is normal. Your skin may feel tight, dry or sensitive to touch. Treat the skin gently by washing it with a gentle cleanser, cool water, and using only your hands to pat dry no earlier than 8 hours after treatment. Some redness may also be present and in some cases, patients may experience slight bruising that can last for 5 to 7 days and temporary swelling for 2 to 4 days.
Tips:
- Avoid strenuous exercises that cause sweating as well as jacuzzis, saunas, and steam baths for up to 48 hours.
- Use only minimal makeup after 24 hours.
- Sleep on your back with the head of the bed elevated to minimize swelling or pain as needed.
Day 2 through 4
Peeling may start 3 to 5 days after the treatment. You’ll notice skin dryness and flaking which is due to an increased turnover of skin cells. DO NOT pick, scratch, or scrub at treated skin!
Important Information: You must allow the old skin to flake off naturally and keep it moisturized at all times.
We recommend using the Pre/Post Procedure Kit from Revision Skincare or DEJ Face from Revision Skincare.
Day 5 through 7
You may start your regular skincare products again, once your skin no longer feels irritated. Most of our patients have noticed continued skin improvement over the months following their treatment.
You might notice results after just a few days, but the effects will become more visible after 2 to 3 weeks. Optimal results will appear around 3 months.
After Morpheus8 Microneedling in Austin, we advise patients to avoid sun exposure and anti-inflammatory medications for one week after treatment. In addition:
- Do not use ice on your face, and avoid using arnica/bromelain. These may interfere with the natural inflammatory process that’s critical for your skin rejuvenation.
- Avoid sun tanning and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight for at least 2 weeks. After 24 hours, always use sunblock (30 SPF or higher) and wear a hat if you’re outside.
- Use a painkiller, such as Tylenol, if you experience any soreness.
