Whether it’s a gentle facial or more advanced aesthetic treatment, we have curated each and every service in our practice to provide significant improvements to your skin’s health and appearance.
People come to B+A Aesthetics because they know our practice—run by board-certified surgeons—offers exceptional care. Dr. Nicole Basa, Dr. Alan Abando, and our team of skilled, compassionate medical providers reliably give our patients excellent results, whether they seek bariatric care, medical weight loss support, or aesthetic services like facials in Austin.
This blog will take a deep dive into the 3 medical-grade facial options we offer at B+A (plus a few of our chemical peels). Each treatment provides patients with safe and effective skin improvement that can last weeks to months, depending on your selection.
Brighten Your Complexion
B+A has 3 facials to address different skin issues and conditions. Each treatment is unique and delivers its healing benefits in distinct ways:
- HydraFacial: A soothing, gentle facial incorporating topical treatments, light exfoliation, and different boosters, depending on your desired outcome.
- IPL Photofacial: A more advanced facial that requires some downtime. It’s known for harnessing the power of intense pulsed light therapy to address uneven skin tone.
- Forma: Another advanced medical-facial option that uses radiofrequency to tone and tighten the skin’s appearance.
If these treatments sound appealing, keep reading to discover the highlights and features of each facial treatment option.
HydraFacial
Sometimes, your complexion needs a little extra TLC to regain its luster.
Whether you’re experiencing dryness because of harsh weather or blemishes due to stress, the HydraFacial can help get your skin back on track.
Pick Your Treatment Focus
HydraFacial allows you to select 1 of 3 treatment options; depending on your needs, you can choose the Signature, Deluxe, or Platinum HydraFacial.
Signature HydraFacial
The Signature HydraFacial is ideal for people with low-maintenance skin. In 30 minutes, we’ll accomplish the following:
Cleansing and Exfoliation
The HydraFacial’s customized solution will cleanse your skin while the facial device gently clears debris.
Clarifying Peel and Extraction
We’ll use a peel containing salicylic and glycolic acid to clear any remaining debris, which HydraFacial’s extraction device will gently remove.
Soothing Moisturization
After the final extraction step, we’ll infuse your skin with a hydrating serum.
Deluxe HydraFacial
The 60-minute Deluxe HydraFacial includes everything involved in the Signature facial, plus:
- A booster formulated to target specific skin issues.
- LED light therapy to decrease inflammation and smooth fine lines and wrinkles.
B+A offers clients the following booster options:
- Brightalive boost diminishes skin discoloration and brightens skin tone.
- Growth factor boost decreases the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while giving skin a healthy glow.
- Britenol boost helps lessen the appearance of age and sunspots while addressing other forms of hyperpigmentation.
- Rozatrol boost reduces redness while increasing skin hydration, supports the skin’s barrier, and provides detoxification.
- Dermabuilder boost is filled with peptides and is ideal for those with aging skin.
Platinum HydraFacial
Finally, the platinum HydraFacial provides 90 minutes of all the pampering listed above, while adding:
- Lymphatic therapy to help lift, sculpt, and detoxify the skin.
- Dermaplaning to boost the service’s effectiveness.
Treatment Details
HydraFacial is one of our favorite skin-clearing facials in Austin because it’s safe for any skin type, is painless, and requires no downtime. We recommend getting a HydraFacial whenever you think your skin needs a little love, if you’re experiencing congested pores, or once a month for maintenance.
IPL Photofacial
Most people have experienced hyperpigmentation throughout their life. Whether it’s discoloration due to acne or emerging sunspots from years of fun in the sun, facial skin is especially susceptible to discoloration.
Thankfully, with the help of our IPL photofacial, you can say goodbye to uneven skin tone and reveal smoother, clear skin.
The IPL Process
Our intense pulsed light (IPL) facial uses high-intensity light that converts energy into heat to transform your skin. The energy emitted helps eliminate unwanted dark skin cells by breaking them apart. Ultimately, these cells are flushed away by the body’s natural processes.
Most people notice a warming sensation or a mild stinging during these facials in Austin. Your aesthetician will check in with you during the treatment to ensure you remain comfortable.
You may notice skin flaking off after your 30- to 60-minute appointment, and in the following days, your skin may appear slightly red or swollen, and you may need 1 to 2 days to recover. This is normal and part of the process. You may see some skin improvement after your first facial, but more drastic results can be seen in the coming weeks, lasting up to a year, after 3 to 6 treatments.
Additional Treatment Options
Besides being a safe option for treating dark and red spots and sunspots, our photofacial can also help resolve the following issues:
- Freckles
- Rosacea
- Spider veins
- Acne scars
Most people don’t need any downtime following our IPL photofacial.
Forma
While conventional facials in Austin can’t tighten skin, that’s where Forma shines. Forma is a medical-grade facial that uses radiofrequency to help improve skin’s texture, tone, and appearance.
While we use Forma to address loose skin on the neck and face, we also offer Forma Plus to treat loose skin on the body.
Forma Details
Unlike our IPL, which uses light energy to heat the skin, Forma uses radiofrequency to heat the skin, stimulating collagen production. Like IPL, the 30- to 60-minute process is painless, and most people only notice slight tingling.
You’ll likely start to see results in approximately 3 to 4 weeks after 1 session. For the best results, we typically recommend patients get 6 to 8 treatments.
Considering a Chemical Peel?
Chemical peels are like many traditional facials in Austin because our aestheticians apply them topically. However, depending on which treatment you choose, many of these peels can affect deeper layers of skin.
Chemical Peel Details
Chemical peels are designed to remove the top layer of skin. During your appointment, your aesthetician will apply the peel to your skin and leave it on for a certain amount of time. Then, they will safely remove it by neutralizing it.
Often, after an appointment, the skin may peel or flake off. Some peels require no downtime, while others may require you to take some time off work to heal.
Depending on the facial you get (HydraFacial, IPL, or Forma) and your desired results, you may choose to combine a chemical peel with your facial. You can find out what treatment combinations are best for your needs and how far they need to be spaced apart by talking to one of our team members at a consultation.
ZO Stimulator Peel
Our team can apply this gentle peel during your lunch hour if you need a quick pick-me-up with no residual redness! This treatment incorporates lactic acid, citric acid, and salicylic acid to exfoliate the skin while promoting elastin and collagen production.
ZO 3-Step Peel
The ZO 3-Step Peel is a more advanced option that we use to revitalize aging skin. This peel can help you achieve a more youthful look in 3 steps:
- Step 1. Exfoliation: This peel uses trichloroacetic acid (TCA), salicylic acid, and glycolic acid to remove dead skin cells.
- Step 2. Retinol: Retinol promotes skin renewal while reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.
- Step 3. Serum: The serum calms the skin post-peel and minimizes irritation through hydration.
Skinbetter Science Peels
If you’re concerned about skin texture and tone, we have 2 Skinbetter Science peels that could address your needs:
- AlphaRet 30: This peel is ideal for those experiencing mild photodamage. It also can minimize pore appearance and improve skin texture.
- AlphaRet 50: This peel is best suited for patients experiencing moderate photodamage. It also can help improve the skin’s overall tone.
BioRePeel
This peel is 35% TCA and provides revitalizing results with minimal skin shedding, resulting in little to no downtime post-peel. We love this peel because:
- It’s biostimulating, meaning it stimulates your body to create collagen.
- This peel can decrease UV damage, hyperpigmentation, and acne scarring.
- It’s a wonderful exfoliant.
- This peel is able to dissolve bonds between cells, promoting cell turnover and revealing glowing skin.
- We also can use this peel to treat other areas of the body.
